30th, 40th and 50th Birthday Celebrations, 7th April 2007 Jo, Gel and Mike hosted their joint Birthday party at the BRC Clubhouse on Easter Saturday night. They celebrated their landmark birthdays, which fell within 12 hours of each other, with all their friends and family on this special night out. Annual Dinner, 24th February 2006 Another year gone by with plenty of success for Bridgnorth Rowing Club and this is the night we all celebrate it. Congratulations to all the prize winners: Best contribution: Reuben Mortimore Sportsperson of the Year: Charlotte Jukes Most improved: Daz, Dale, Will and Si Junior of the Year: Pat Brown Poseur of the Year: Andy Cropper Thanks to the Social Committee for all their efforts in organising the night. Go to the photographs page for more. Christmas Party, 16th December 2006 Fantastic effort was put into the fancy dress theme of 'Countries'. Jingle, jingle! Merry Christmas! Annual Quiz, 14th October 2006 Thanks to quizmaster Bridget for another superb quiz. The winners were awarded 'unique' copies of the Bridgnorth Fun Regatta DVD, while the wooden spoons were awarded popcorn and marshmallows. Thanks to the Social Committee for a good night out. Bridgnorth Fun Regatta, 23rd September 2006 We held our first Fun Regatta for 16 years on what turned out to be a brilliantly sunny day. The event offered local clubs, pubs and businesses the opportunity to have a go at rowing and after just three training sessions it was time for the novice crews to race! The whole day ran extremely smoothly with racing going to schedule (this not always being the case at regattas)! The feedback was extremely positive with both competitors, club members and supporters all having a great time. The event proved very successful for raising the clubs profile, attracting new members and raising funds. With businesses and potential crews clamouring to be involved next year, the 2007 Fun Regatta should be an event to look forward to. Results: Senior Men: Black Boy Rowing Club 'B' Senior Women: Bassa Villa Babes Mixed: Geko 'B' Champion of Champions: Black Boy Rowing Club 'B' Second Chance Saloon: Coxcyx 4 World Rowing Championships, August 2006 A group of Bridgnorth RC members travelled down to Dorney Lake, Eton to watch the World Rowing Championships on Saturday 26th August 2006. Thanks to Wally's fine organisational (and driving!) skills we had a good day and managed to catch the GB Men's Coxless Four in action as they won their World Championship gold medals. We also saw the New Zealand twins in the Women's Double Sculls and the GB Men's Double winning their bronze medals. This was the first time the World Championships had been held in Britain for 20 years and a fantastic opportunity to see some 'world class' rowing and sculling. Football World Cup Day, June 2006 Due to the cancellation of our regatta we held an impromptu World Cup Day at the boathouse. Everyone turned out to watch England play in the first round and enjoyed the barbecue. Those pork and apple burgers went down a treat! Trip to Wenlock Pottery, April 2006 We had a good night at Wenlock Pottery. We all threw some fantastic pots and then enjoyed a barbeque feast. Thanks to Mike and Sheila for a very enjoyable evening- can't wait to see our finished works of art! Mike also throws all the pots for the winners in our regatta in June. Why not enter and see if you can win one this year? BRC Open Day 2006 Planned to coincide with the Oxford/Cambridge Boat Race, the BRC Open Day was a great success. Many potential new members came down for a tour of our facilities, an introduction to rowing at Bridgnorth and a drink at the bar! Thanks to everyone who helped out and made it a very enjoyable day. BRC Annual Dinner 2006 Thanks to the social committee for organising another successful Annual Dinner, held in our newly refurbished Club Room. Awards for the year went to Charlotte Jukes (Junior of the Year and Sportsman of the Year), Tim Grimsdale (Greatest Contribution to the Club), Rob Sherrat (Most Improved) and Daz, Dale, Will and Simon (Poseurs of the Year). To see more photographs from the night, go to the photographs page. Daz's 18th Birthday Party Happy Birthday to Daz, who entertained us all at his karaoke birthday party. Thanks for a good night! Pantomine Our first social event of 2006 was a trip to the Theatre in Wolverhampton to see the hilarious Billy Pierce (who?) in Aladdin. Thanks to Gel for organising a chuffin' good night out! Mens' Xmas Night Out The Men's Squad started their night in the Clubhouse with some pub games and then headed out for a curry-fest! Girls' Xmas Night Out The Women's Squad had their Christmas night out at The Habit Restaurant in Bridgnorth. A delicious 3 course dinner was followed by Woo Woos and Blue cocktails next door. It was great to see everyone and we celebrated our accomplishments for 2005 in style! On that note, congratulations to Cath and Nigel on the birth of their beautiful baby daughter Harriet Laura and a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! Christmas Party 2005
The theme this year was 'Black and White' and, as usual, we had some great costumes, including Charlie Chaplin, The Man from Milk Tray, a nun and the Queen of Spades. A special mention should be made for the gorilla in a tutu and the Michael Jackson double act! Pub Quiz & Fish and Chips Thanks to everyone who came to the Pub Quiz and well done to the Captains' Team who won the Smarties prize and to Wally's Team who won the Wooden Spoon! Rob's 40th Birthday Party Happy Birthday Rob! Thanks for a great night and for thanks for reminding us that Elvis lives on in Bridgnorth! BRC Annual Dinner 2005 The Annual Dinner was a great success. For the second year running it was held in the BRC Clubroom. The President, Mens' Captain and Ladies' Captain made their end-of-year speeches and we watched some footage for the year's racing. The BRC trophies were presented by the President to Sportsman of the Year (Daz Breakwell), Junior of the Year (Charlotte) and Greatest Contribution to the Club (Geraldine Bunning, Anne and Roy Breakwell).
